Hawzah News Agency- Sulayman ibn Ahmad ibn Ayyub al-Lakhmi narrated from Muhammad ibn Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah, from Minjab ibn al-Harith, from Abu Hudhayfah al-Tha’labi, from Ziyad ibn Ilaqah, from Jabir ibn Samurah al-Suwa’i, from Imam Ali (pbuh), that the Prophet (pbuh) said:
I asked my Lord, Blessed and Exalted, for three things; He granted me two and denied me one.
1. I said: ‘O Lord, do not destroy my nation through famine.’ He said: ‘You have this.’
2. I said: ‘O Lord, do not empower over them an external enemy—meaning from the polytheists—who would eradicate them.’ He said: ‘You have that.’
3. I said: ‘O Lord, do not make their hostility and strife be among themselves.’ But He denied me this.
